Summer Camp Before we went on our long trip into the vast unknown, Camp Constantin, we had an awesome pizza lunch. When we got to the camp we had a quick familiarization tour so we'd know where things were located. Shortly after the tour we had our dinner - which almost everyone disliked. We had the additional challenge of the wind blowing everyone's plate around the place. In my opinion the best meal item was cereal. We received our merit badge class schedules on that same day. The next day after breakfeast we went to our classes. We had a two hour break, which included lunch, after our first two classes. After our last classes we could do pretty much whatever we wanted; but don't forget about the buddy system that made us go everywhere with a buddy!! After free time the camp counselors usually host an event such as campfires, movie night, etc. It was basically like that all week except for our service project where we made name plates for each camp site. The counselors also held an even called possum fest; it was like a fair without roller coasters. It was fun! TFC, trail to first class, went on a hike to Johnson's peak. We stayed up there overnight. I won't mention the exhausting trip up to the peak, or the visit by the scorpion, but everyone got there safely. One of the things the scouts fell in love with was the snack shop which helped us to overcome home sickness and the regular camp "food". Personally I hated feeling so home sick that I wanted to cry but, thanks to the activities, I survived. We entered a raft race and, although we didn't move an inch from land, we won an award for "best looking raft". In addition to that, we won the Baden Powell Award, a very important award. We also had the Order of the Arrow (OA) activities which was tiring because we had to keep our arms crossed for the entire event. Three members of our troop, Preston Sanderson, Ethan Marcom and Nicholas Reiniger, were selected to possibly be members of the OA. To wrap it up it was a fantastic experience.
