Tracking Merit Badge December 31st |
At the tracking merit badge workshop we all earned the badge. It was tough, cold and the only live non-bird we found was a turtle - if you don't count all the domesticated dogs. We hiked about 3 miles from the Spring Creek Reserve beginning (Holford Road) to the end (North Shiloh Road). We took pictures of birds, made plaster molds of animal (mainly dog) prints.
The hardest part was the first mud slope down to the creek. we slid and fell (except Martin and I) then found nothing. We all struggled our way up. I managed to reach the top first, but Eric was the first one back on the trail. One scout was so stuck he was giving up, but in the end we got everyone back on the trail. :)
The second slope was not as bad except one boy rolled the whole way down and almost into the water. Glad his fall was stopped by other scouts, else he would have taken a very cold bath.
In the end it was worth it all.
